Necrophilia

Necrophilia is formally defined as the sexual attraction to corpses. But for the sake of this page and what I am to detail in it, "necrophilia" refers to any sexual or romantic activity involving corpses. Basically I am referring to necrophilia the kink and fetish and not necrophilia the paraphilia. Everything I romanticize about necrophilia only applies to fictional instances and never anything real. However, while the cases I am to discuss in this directory are strictly fictional, I felt it necessary to give an exposition discussing the morality of necrophilic acts within the context of the real world, so that we may utilize our higher mental facilities to the fullest while we play pretend, for fun. (sprinkling coke into the wok)

Corpses don't think. People become unliving things when they die. Whatever was so valuable to this other just stops mattering. Objects are sold and disposed. Secrets come to light, are spread and reinterpreted, or they get buried along the body that kept it. When someone dies, so does their capacity to care. They can't stop you, or anyone for that matter.

Defiling a corpse is a crime in many parts of the world. Many cultures consider it debauchery. Although, many also think necrophilia is a victimless act. Much of the debates online that I've scoured repeat counter reasons concerned with defacing property, risk of spreading diseases, maybes about living loved ones being offended, sex with corpses being inherently immoral with no further explanation, mental illness as scapegoats (i.e. "result of, and therefore, bad"); all of which I personally find inadequate due to their subjectivity.

My answer: there is no single instance where necrophilia is not an immoral act. The motives that drive this desire, be it loneliness, greed or grief, are deeply embedded into the very definition of its object of attraction. "Love for the dead"—what arouses is the idea of "there was".

It is love that allows the corpse to retain its face as the person. The existence of a corpse is always accompanied by what "was". No "corpse" would conceptually exist without its past of being alive. And to consider that life is to consider the person, and therefore to think of such is to love.

Death plainly reduces the person into an object. Necrophilia is the rejection of that truth in the name of love and it embraces the inequality of the relationship between the living and the corpse because that too is just the nature of love.

The forms of love at play in necrophilic love stories are usually grief and extreme devotion or loyalty. Any passion that can bring someone to want a rotting corpse is love, even if the form it manifests in is damaging and hateful.

In fiction

These are essentially character pairing dynamics put through a necrophilic lens. A lot of these are analyses of fan works of other media and not works that are actually involve necrophilia in its canon because I like seeing these where it isn't intended.

Expect spoilers for the mentioned works. These involve dead people.
